La police financière italienne a mené mardi des perquisitions au siège de Fitch à Milan dans le cadre d’une enquête ouverte par le parquet de Trani (sud) contre les agences de notation, a-t-on appris de source proche du dossier.
Cette visite de la police financière chez Fitch, sur ordre du parquet de Trani, intervient après des perquisitions menées jeudi dernier au siège milanais d’une autre grande agence de notation, Standard and Poor’s (SP) à Milan, également sur ordre de ce parquet.
Le parquet de Trani (sud) accuse les trois grandes agences de notation, SP, Fitch et Moody’s, d’abus de marché.
Les magistrats reprochent notamment à Fitch d’avoir laissé entendre ces derniers jours que la notation de l’Italie avait de grandes chances d’être dégradée d’ici le 31 janvier.
L’un des responsables de Fitch à Milan, Alessandro Settepani, avait notamment indiqué mercredi dernier que l’agence pourrait abaisser la note de l’Italie de deux crans.
L’enquête du parquet de Trani avait été initialement ouverte fin 2010 à la suite d’une plainte déposée par des associations de consommateurs contre un rapport de Moody’s dont la publication en mai 2010 avait eu un effet négatif sur les cours de Bourse des banques italiennes.
Elle a ensuite été élargie à SP – après la publication de communiqués sur l’Italie durant le printemps et l’été 2011 contenant, selon le parquet, des jugements infondés sur la péninsule ayant eu un effet négatif sur les marchés – puis à Fitch.
Les agences de notation ont été accusées d’accentuer la crise de la zone euro en dégradant la notation de pays européens à des moments clés.”

More than half the Belgian debt is controlled by local players, rich Belgian families and individuals, as well as the general public. Contrary to most other European States, Belgium thus seems somehow protected from the barbarians’ invasions.
Nonetheless, the interests of that debt have to be financed. That’s where the rating bureaus come in : basing their reviews on so-called rational economic parameters, they advise potential debt bonds investors about the level of risk they’re supposed to be taking.
Only : this is pure bullshit, speculation if you prefer… Fitch just anounced its intention to reduce the credit rating once more, due to the political instability our country is currently displaying, and this while our economy seems to be recovering better than that of our European neighbours. So, these rating bureaus are actually playing a political part : entire States – and their most fragile citizens with them, of course – are at the mercy of the decisions they make, favouring the wealthiest as well as the worldwide financial mafia.
When governments elected by the people can’t take the course they want to because a new economic totalitarism doesn’t allow them to make any choice of policy any more, one way or another, the situation becomes real messy… And we won’t have to wait too long for that “prophecy” to materialize !…
